For the past seven years, the Islamic Society of Milwaukee has been a sponsor for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration held at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. This year's program was held on January 15, 2012. Since 1984, the only cities that have annualy celebrated Dr. Kings birthday are Atlanta and Milwaukee. The program includes performers who salute Dr. King's legacy through music, dance and songs.
The Islamic Society of Milwaukee helps to support the programs of other organizations that provide services to those in need. For example, the ISM helps the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee with its annual Crop Walk effort and helps Tippecanoe Church with its efforts to provide relief to the homeless during the winter months.
The Islamic Society of Milwaukee is part of the "Adopt a Highway" Program and also conducts neighborhood clean-up programs.
