The ISM Weekend School meets on Sundays from 10:00am until 1:00pm. The Weekend school seeks to provide religious instruction for students from kindergarten to high school. Students are taught Arabic and Qur’anic studies, Seerah (the life of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) as well as morals and ethics. Older children learn about current issues and events while younger children are taught basic skills including how to pray, how to prepare for prayer, and other important matters.
The Weekend School for 2011-2012 started on September 18 and it will run through May 20, 2011. Throughout the year, the ISM Weekend School will hold various contests, including a Qur’an contest (where children recite selections of the Qur’an from memory), an Athan contest (where children compete with one another on who performs the best Athan (Call to Prayer), and an Islamic Studies contest where children will compete against one another in a test of their Islamic knowledge.
On Sunday, February 12, 2012, the Weekend School held their annual Qur'an Contest. The winners of this year's contest were as follows:
