The Islamic Society of Milwaukee has purchased a new facility located across the street from the UWM Student Union. The former church building was acquired in April 2015. Located at 2223 E. Kenwood Boulevard, the new facility is intended to serve the students and staff at UWM as well as the Muslim community located on Milwaukee's east side.
On Saturday May 23, 2015, the ISM held its annual Community Graduation Ceremony for high school graduates. The program is largely a social event (which includes a nice dinner) intended to bring together community graduates from throughout the greater Milwaukee area.
The program showcases the diversity of our community members, not only in terms of schools attended, but also the broad range of cultures and ethnicities in our community.
During the program, graduates are given the opportunity to showcase their achievements, to deliver short speeches, and to meet graduates from other area high schools.
This year's program was attended by thirty graduates from seven area high schools, including DSHA, Franklin, Marquette, Oak Creek, Salam and others!
All of the graduates indicated that they will continue to pursue their educational goals at a wide variety of local, state and national universities, including Alverno, Marquette, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Madison, Johns Hopkins and Harvard!
We congratulate all of our graduates (as well as their their families). We wish all of you the very best as you move on the the next chapter of your lives. May Allah (SWT) bless and guide you all!
