The Islamic Society of Milwaukee once again condemns ISIS and its barbaric behavior. Over the past two to three years, ISIS and the government of Bashar Al-Assad have slaughtered tens of thousands of innocent civilians in Syria. ISIS has also killed thousands of innocent Sunni Muslims, Shia Muslims, Yazidis and Christians in Iraq.
The murder of Steven Sotloff and James Foley and the manner in which their murders took place was especially reprehensible. As journalists, Steven Sotloff and James Foley were giving voice to the thousands of innocent civilians who are the victims of tyrannical and evil forces. Steven Saotloff was apparently captured while entering Syria to report on the ongoing war and James Foley was captured in Syria as he was exposing the crimes that were being inflicted upon the innocent people of Syria.
The targeting and killing of innocent journalists must be condemned by all people of conscience, whether the murderers are ISIS, the Syrian government, the Israeli government (which killed more than 12 journalists during their recent assault on the innocent people of Gaza), the illegal Egyptian government of Abdelfattah Al-Sisi (whichhas killed numerous journalists and continues to imprison others) or any other country of group.
We offer our condolences to the Sotloff and Foley family for their loss. Steven Sotloff and James Foley honored us all and enriched all of us by their incredible bravery. We ask God to bless them for exposing the truth to the world.
