Our Mission

For many kids who are unable to attend full time Islamic schools, exposure to formal Islamic education is hard to come by. ISM weekend schools provide kids with the opportunity to learn about Islam and to build their Islamic identity as a supplement to their home training. ISM Saturday School has been operating since 1991 at the Islamic center of Milwaukee providing Muslim children quality Islamic education. The subjects taught are Islamic History and Islamic beliefs, Reading of Quran, Surah memorization, Fiqh and Aqida. Saturday School has 5 levels.

Description

Pre-primary Level:

Ages 4-6 years. At this level, children begin learning the basic Islamic beliefs, Islamic manners, names of the various prophets, reading of Arabic letters from Yassar-nul-Quran, Islamic poems and songs and Islamic Videos and stories. During the school year the children learn 5-6 surahs.

Books used: Short Surahs, Yassar-nul-Quran, Arabic Alphabet Writing (various children storybooks, audio and video cassettes other books are only for teacher's reference).

Level 1:

Ages of the children in this level are 6-8 years. Children memorize 5 suras with translation and explanation from Short Surahs book, continue reading from Yassar-nul Quran and use the books Life of Mohmmad (PBUH): Mecca Period and Life of Mohmmad (PBUH): Medinah Period.

Books used: Short Suras, Yassar-nul Quran, Life of Mohmmad (PBUH) Mecca Period and Medinah Period, Coloring book and Urdu Qaida.

Level 2:

Ages of the children in this level are 8-10 years. Children in this level revise the eleven surahs learned in the previous levels and also learn the 6 Kalimas with translation and explanation. The books used in this level are Our Faith and Worship Volume 1 and 2. The children also continue reading from Yassar-nul-Quran.

Level 3:

Ages 10-12 years. Students continue revising the previously learned surahs and also learn 5 additional surahs from Juz Amma: Part 30. The Islamic studies book they use "Learn All About Islam" by Yahiya Emerick.

Books used: Juz Amma: Part 30, "Learn All About Islam" by Yahiya Emerick, Urdu Qaida.

Level 4:

For youths 12 years and older. Students learn 5 surahs from Juz Amma: Part 30 and learn from the book "What Islam Is All About" by Yahiya Emerick. The students in this level also attend the lectures by Sheikh Amin for youth and adults.

Books used: "What Islam Is All About" by Yahiya Emerick, Juz Amma: Part 30.

Urdu Language (optional):

Taught in every level starting from the pre primary to Level 4. The children start from learning basic vocabulary, counting, alphabets, reading and writing. Books used are Urdu folder, Urdu Quida and Urdu books 1, 2 and 3.
