GUIDELINES FOR VISITORS AND GUESTS
· The Islamic
Center welcomes visits by individuals and groups. Please make an
appointment before your visit by calling the ISM Office at (414) 282-1812.
· All visitors are requested to register with the ISM Office. Visitors and
guests will be provided with a visitor's badge, and are requested to wear
the badge at all times while inside the Center.
· The Islamic Center is a non-smoking building; smoking inside the Center is
not permitted. Use of intoxicants in the Center, or a visit to the Center
under the influence of intoxicants is not permitted. Visitors are advised
to conduct themselves in a manner befitting a place of worship.
· All visitors are requested to dress modestly and appropriately (clothing
such as shorts, sleeveless blouses or T-shirts, tight fitting T-shirts, or
short skirts should not be worn). Inside the actual prayer hall, shoes are
not permitted. Visitors, like all others, will be requested to take off
their shoes, slippers, sandals, boots, etc., when entering the prayer area
and place them in racks provided at the entrance. Visitors are free to keep
on their socks while inside the prayer area.
· Visitors are requested to turn off their mobile/cell phones and pagers
inside the prayer area.
· The Islamic Society of Milwaukee invites people to visit the Islamic
Center on Sundays between 11 am to 12 pm with prior notice to the ISM office
at (414) 282-1812. On most Sunday mornings, the Islamic Society of
Milwaukee holds classes on the basics of Islamic belief or about other
issues that relate to Muslim beliefs and practices. These sessions provide
a very comfortable setting for visitors to learn about Islam and to ask
questions.
· Generally, Friday is not a good day for appointments and visitations. The
Muslim community's main congregational prayers are held on Friday from 1 - 2
pm. With over 1200 attendees and limited parking facilities, visitation
programs are difficult to organize.
