Brussels Attack

Earlier this morning, the news media reported that attacks occurred in Brussels, Belgium, in which more than 30 people were killed and many more injured. It is widely reported that ISIS/ISIL has claimed responsibility for the attacks and that the attacks are in retaliation for the arrest of one or more of the perpetrators of the November 2015 Paris attacks. The Islamic Society of Milwaukee unequivocally condemns this morning’s attacks and offers its condolences to the victims and their families and loved ones.

It is being widely reported that Sammy M. Hamzeh has been arrested following an investigation by the FBI’s Milwaukee office. The Islamic Society of Milwaukee leadership is not familiar with Sammy Hamzeh and he is not a recognized attendee of any of our facilities. The Islamic Society and its members are deeply troubled by the allegations that Sammy Hamzeh wanted to attack the Scottish Masonic Temple in downtown Milwaukee.

ISM and Wisconsin Muslims Condem Paris Attacks

The Islamic Society of Milwaukee and its members are deeply saddened by and unequivocally condemn the savage attacks carried out by the terrorist group ISIS against innocent civilians in Paris. Earlier this week, this same vile group killed scores of innocent people in Beirut, Lebanon. Over the past few years, ISIS extremists have killed thousands of innocent people in Syria and Iraq, mainly Muslims, but also including American journalists, Yazidis, Christians and others.
