The Islamic Society of Milwaukee has been a sponsor of the Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration for many year.  This year, a number of students from the Muslim community won awards in the writing and speech contests.

Over the past few months, individuals affiliated with or inspired by the barbaric group known as ISIS have carried out savage attacks against innocent civilian populations in a number of countries. The latest attack yesterday in Nice, France resulted in the tragic deaths of 84 innocent people.


Statement on Orlando Shooting

Condemnation June 12, 2016

The Islamic Society of Milwaukee denounces the horrific acts of the Orlando shooter whose heinous crimes have nothing to do with our community or faith. The shooter’s ex-wife, father and others have described the shooter as being not religious and mentally unstable. This monstrous act must be condemned by all who value human life and dignity.


Brussels Attack

Condemnation March 22, 2016

Earlier this morning, the news media reported that attacks occurred in Brussels, Belgium, in which more than 30 people were killed and many more injured. It is widely reported that ISIS/ISIL has claimed responsibility for the attacks and that the attacks are in retaliation for the arrest of one or more of the perpetrators of the November 2015 Paris attacks. The Islamic Society of Milwaukee unequivocally condemns this morning’s attacks and offers its condolences to the victims and their families and loved ones.
