Islamic Matrimonial Services

Marriage is an essential part of the Islamic tradition and the family is considered to be a very important component in creating healthy communities.  An Islamic marriage contract is a solemn agreement between two Muslim partners who commit to one another before God/Allah.  ISM Imams regularly officiate at Islamic matrimonial services and provide the couple with a certificate of Islamic marriage.

A marriage entered into in the United States is not considered to be legally valid unless a marriage license is obtained from the proper government authorities.  In Wisconsin, a marriage license can be applying for from the county clerk of any county in the state.  A wedding date must be set prior to the couple completing the marriage application and the application must be completed a minimum of four days prior to the wedding date.   The license is valid for 60 days from the date it is issued.  For marriages in Milwaukee County, more information can be found at this site.

The ISM will not perform an Islamic marriage nor will the ISM issue an Islamic Marriage Contract unless it is accompanied by a legal license issued by the clerk of courts.  If you wish to obtain an Islamic marriage, you must first apply for a legal license at a county clerk’s office and then schedule an appointment with an ISM Imam.  The ISM Imam can complete the legal documents (he will be the officiant) and will also complete the Islamic ceremony and Islamic Marriage Certificate.
